Since 1997, Gayanei Mot (meaning At Gayane's) has been offering traditional Armenian recipes passed down the generations in the heart of Yerevan. More than just about food, Gayanei Mot offers guests an experience of cultures and flavours frozen in time. It is a cozy corner of an Armenian family who lived there since 1960s, who created and shaped the cultural heritage and traditions of Yerevan today. The house was designed and built by Gayane's father, Varazdat Arevshatyan, a well known architect who designed several outstanding structures in Yerevan, including the building on Republic Square that until recently housed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Gayane continued her fathers creative heritage but in music and would occasionally entertain her guests by playing the piano. Gayane's husband Eduard Baroyan also made a history as a well known sportsman and modern pentathlon champion, who later trained several generations of athletes.
